Comparison of Regent, Travelex Lite and HTH Insurance Plans
This can be very confusing. The analysis is meant to assist you in determining what is best for you.
Information listed below to the best of our ability and understanding, we are not insurance experts and our descriptions below are meant to assist you and are by no means binding. Payment of claims and policy rules are at the discretion of the insurance company. The key issues are pre-existing conditions, primary or secondary coverage for medical costs, amount of emergency evacuation insurance, your age, whether you are covering children. No ONE policy stands out as the best it depends on your personal situation. For extended long cruises it becomes even more complex. Please just contact us and we will address this individually.

KEY ISSUES CLARIFIED
|
PRIMARY OR SECONDARY COVERAGE |
Best insurer on this issue: Travelex
This can be a big issue. Many people ONLY want primary insurance on their travel policy for medical expenses.
If you have two insurance companies involved, then it can be a problem when overseas and can create more stress. Some policies will not cover you overseas and until you are in the critical situation it can be difficult to determine these issues. We have heard of real problems for people who do not have PRIMARY medical travel insurance.
The insurance company has much higher risk associated with this coverage. Yet Travelex is often close in price as HTH or Regent (depending on your age).
Regent and HTH – only offer secondary coverage.
Best insurer on this issue: HTH
All pre-existing conditions covered if paid within 24 hours of the final payment.
Travelex offers full pre-existing coverage but premium must be paid within 21 days of DEPOSIT for the trip. If not paid in time the travelers not covered for pre-existing conditions AND neither are the family members.
Regent offers pre-existing coverage at ALL times for family members not traveling but only a waiver for pre-existing conditions if full insurance is paid within 72 hours of the deposit.
Clarity on pre-existing condition coverage.
You must be free of any new condition and had no change in treatment for a pre-existing condition for 60 days (Regent) or 90 days (Travelex) or 180 days (HTH) before purchasing the insurance. If you meet this qualification then you ARE covered for pre-existing conditions.
