Report on the Navigator
A wonderful all-suite
ship. She started sailing in August, 1999. The ship is very well
laid out. My concern was that this ship was leaving the small ship
category and jumping up to 490 passengers and that it would not
retain the small ship feeling that I love so much. Whether it is the
layout of the ship or the fact that the space ratio per passenger is
so high, it has that wonderful "small" ship feeling. My trip was
completely sold out, the ship had no cabins left. However, it felt
only half full. At one time, all the passengers were in the show
room and the room seemed only to full. Never a wait for anything. I
was very impressed with the Navigator. The service and food in the
dining rooms
were impeccable. Wine is complimentary at
dinner time.
At major dry dock will take place in November 2009 with many
wonderful enhancements to the ship including the addition of a new
restaurant called PRIME 7 which has been a huge success on the
Voyager and Mariner.
Key Observations
-
A beautiful ship. Lots of granite
and marble, well laid out.
-
The cabins are incredible. Smallest
cabin is 301 square feet. Huge bathrooms with a full tub and
also a separate walk-in shower. Walk-in closet, with tons of
drawer space. The cabins have a high quality ambiance. The beds
have "comforters" and no top sheet. At first I was confused. The
comforters have covers that are washed and replaced. Without a
sheet that comforter just snuggles around you and the effect is
one of the best nights sleep you can imagine. The beds were
described by one passenger as "a little nest". Somehow the
wonderful cabin, the comforters, beautiful fabrics makes the
cabin a place you do not want to leave.
-
The food was truly outstanding and
the main dining room has a wonderful ambiance.
-
The Portofino IL Ristorante is a
pleasant room. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and the
alternative Italian dinner. The lunches, in particular, were the
best I have experienced at sea.
-
If you like entertainment, then this
ship offers an outstanding show lounge.
-
The Navigator has direct internet
access.
