We took a trip to Cappadocia in July, 2011 and fell in love with this delightful
area full of incredibly unique landscapes and decided we wanted to offer the
same program to our clients booked on the Black Sea
July 3, 2012. Anyone is interested in photography will be enchanted by the
opportunities for some incredible shots.
The balloon ride was the best we have ever experienced and offered an
awe inspiring view of the caves and chimneys below. The weather was
delightful, warm but not really hot. We visited all the top
hotels and decided on the Museum Hotel. All the rooms are unique, the
setting is magnificent and clients that we know who have stayed at this hotel have given
it rave reviews.
A truly boutique
hotel it offers an experience you will not forget.

Ephesus - The Terrace Houses
 |
At approximately 9:00am meet your private guide for a day
tour (approximately 4 hours duration) of Ephesus. Drive down to the upper gate
of Ephesus and enter through the Magnesia Gate and begin a slow, downhill walk
with your guide into the ruins of this Roman provincial capital. Your route
takes you past the Odeum, the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, the
Fountain of Trajan and the Great Theater. The Theater, offering seating for
25,000, was the site where St. Paul preached to the Ephesians, and is used today
for a local spring festival. |
The visit of Ephesus will also include the famous Terrace
Houses located on the slopes of Bulbul Mountain, opposite the Hadrian Temple.
Also called "the houses of rich", these houses were for the important and
wealthy people of Ephesus, as only rich people could afford such houses.
Return to the cruise ship at around 1:00pm after your
Ephesus tour.

Istanbul/Cappadocia -
Museum Hotel
|
Disembark in Istanbul today; you will be met at the cruise
ship terminal and transferred to the Istanbul Airport in time to board your
flight to Kayseri. Meet your driver and set off for Cappadocia.
Start your tour of Cappadocia: rock formations beyond
belief in Devrent valley; walking in Zelve Open Air Museum: a journey into the
past with its troglodyte houses; visit to Pasabag "fairy chimneys" where the
voice of wind mixes with the "songs of fairies". Today will offer many
interesting photographic opportunities.

 |
Continue to Avanos, the center of terra cotta work of art
since 3000 BC.
We still
stop during the day for lunch at a local restaurant. To avoid set lunches
these are not included in the tour price the lunch will be on your own
account.
Museum Hotel was
the first luxury boutique hotel in Cappadocia and is built up out of the ancient
ruins. With its unique location, you can enjoy the panoramic view of Avanos,
Goreme, Love Valley, Pigeon Valley, Red Valley and Mt. Erciyes. Rooms are
all unique and the grounds are delightful.

Cappadocia -
Museum Hotel
You will be transferred to your balloon very early in the
morning. Following a brief introduction about your flight, you will be
floating intimately amongst the fairy chimneys and soaring over the
magnificent Cappadocian landscape
The flight lasts about one to one and a half hours and the scenery is
constantly changing. The photographs of both the landscape and the other
balloons have the cameras clicking away at a furious pace. A photographic
delight.
Continue to Derinkuyu Underground City. As all of the
underground cities in the region, it was used for hiding and refuge in the time
of war. The Derinkuyu Underground City with seven floors and a depth of 85
meters has the dimensions of a city able to shelter thousands of persons. Inside
you will find food stores, kitchens, stalls, churches, wine production places,
ventilation chimneys, water wells and a missionary school.
Head to Soganli Valley to visit the open air museum, full
of different style rock-cut churches near a traditional Cappadocian village. The
villages in the valleys, surrounded by “table top” mountains are stunning
sights. You will also visit Sahinefendi-Sobessos, an archaeological site
discovered in 2002 that features numerous mosaic houses.
|
Continue to the Keslik Monastery near Cemil. The frescoes
here can only be revealed by torchlight due to the very thin layer
of smoke covering them. The Medrese (Theological School) from the
Seljuk Turks in Taskinpasa was the witness of an early, rich Turkish
settlement.
The tour concludes with a visit to Mustafapasa (Sinasos),
an ancient Greek town with many ancient homes, fine examples of late
Greek settlements and architecture, and afterwards, you will head
back to the hotel for dinner and relaxation.
